Safe and Effective Solutions for a Radiant Smile!

Over time, habits such as drinking tea or coffee, smoking, or the natural aging process can lead to tooth discoloration, causing your smile to lose its brightness. At our clinic, we offer modern and safe teeth whitening (bleaching) treatments to help you achieve a whiter and more radiant smile. Teeth whitening is an effective cosmetic dentistry procedure that lightens the natural shade of your teeth by several tones, resulting in a brighter appearance.

Why Do Our Teeth Become Discolored?

There are many factors that can cause tooth discoloration:

Dietary Habits: Tea, coffee, red wine, cola, fruit juices, and certain spices can lead to surface stains on the teeth.

Smoking and Tobacco Use: Nicotine and tar cause persistent and stubborn yellow stains on tooth surfaces.

Aging: As enamel thins over time, the darker dentin layer underneath becomes more visible, leading to a yellowish appearance.

Medication Use: Certain antibiotics (such as tetracycline) can cause discoloration during tooth development.

Trauma: Injuries to the teeth can damage the pulp tissue and cause internal discoloration.

Excessive Fluoride Intake: High fluoride exposure can cause fluorosis and visible white or brown stains on the teeth.

Genetic Factors: The natural shade of teeth varies from person to person, and some individuals naturally have darker or more yellowish teeth.

Teeth Whitening Methods Used in Our Clinic

In our clinic, we perform a thorough evaluation to determine the most suitable whitening method based on your needs and lifestyle.

  1. In-Office Teeth Whitening:

This method is performed by your dentist in a clinical setting and provides fast, effective, and highly visible results.

Application Stages

Examination and Preparation: First, your dentist will examine your teeth and gums to ensure they are suitable for whitening. If there are cavities or gum disease, these conditions are treated before the whitening procedure.

Gum Protection: To prevent the whitening gel from irritating the gums, a protective barrier (light-cured gingival shield) is applied.

Gel Application: A high-concentration whitening gel (containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide) is applied to the tooth surfaces.

Light Activation: A special laser or LED light is used to accelerate the whitening process. This light activates the gel, helping break down discolored molecules on the enamel surface.

Repeated Sessions: The procedure is usually repeated 2–3 times in 15–20-minute intervals. The total duration of treatment ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Benefits: Provides the fastest results. Noticeable whitening can be achieved in a single session, and the procedure is safe when performed under professional supervision.

  1. At-Home Teeth Whitening:

This method is performed at home by the patient, under the supervision and guidance of the dentist.

Application Stages:

Impression and Custom Tray Preparation: Impressions of your teeth are taken, and a thin, transparent, custom whitening tray is prepared for you.

Gel Distribution and Instructions: Your dentist will provide you with a low-concentration whitening gel (carbamide peroxide-based) and explain how to properly apply it inside the tray.

At-Home Application: You wear the tray for the period recommended by your dentist (usually for a few hours per day or overnight). This process typically lasts 1–2 weeks.

Benefits: Easy to use, allows gradual and controllable whitening, and offers flexibility for at-home treatment.

  1. Combined Whitening:

For the fastest and most long-lasting results, we recommend combined whitening, which includes both in-office and at-home treatment. With this method, an initial whitening is achieved in the clinic, followed by at-home whitening to reinforce and prolong the results.

Post-Whitening Care and Long-Term Results

First 24–48 Hours: During this period, teeth are more susceptible to discoloration. It is important to avoid colored foods and beverages such as tea, coffee, red wine, cola, and tomato-based sauces, as well as smoking. Following a “White Diet” that consists of colorless or light-colored foods is recommended.

Sensitivity: Temporary tooth sensitivity may occur in some patients. This usually subsides within a few days. Your dentist may recommend sensitivity-reducing products when needed.

Long-Term Stability: The longevity of whitening results depends on lifestyle habits (such as tea, coffee, and smoking) and oral hygiene. Whitening typically lasts between 1 and 3 years. After this period, a touch-up whitening session or whitening toothpaste may be recommended to maintain brightness.
